Need
Help Registering?
Below are the
answers to some frequently asked questions about the process. If
you don't see your question here, please feel free to call us at
919-843-9261 or send us an email.
How
do I watch PHGR?
There are two
ways to view the broadcast. You can watch it via satellite or as
a Webcast on the World Wide Web.
Which
is better?
If you have
a choice, we recommend that you watch the broadcast via satellite.
The Webcast is good quality, and continues to improve and is a wonderful
alternative if you do not have access to a satellite link.
How
does registration work?
There are three
steps to registration - all on-line.
- The site
facilitator must register. We need to know who the site facilitator
is and how to contact him/her. Facilitators fill out a brief registration
page that does not take more than five minutes to complete.
- The site
facilitator must register the site (the location where the
program will be shown). Once the facilitator registers the site,
the location and contact information will be posted on the web
so that individual participants can select the site nearest them.
- Individual
participants must register. Select your state and a
list of sites will be shown to you. Click on "register at this site" when
you find the one you want and follow the instructions to
complete the process.
NOTE: If you
are registering to watch the Webcast, simply select "View via
the World Wide Web." You do not need a site facilitator
or an official site.
What
if there isn't a site near me?
There are many
satellite broadcasts and the coordinators will often wait until
someone has expressed an interest in a program before registering
as a site facilitator for the broadcast. If you know your organization
has a satellite downlink, call your audio/visual department to learn
more and make the request. Some organizations have a distance learning
coordinator who is responsible for site facilitator duties.
If you know
that you do not have a satellite downlink, we suggest that you call
various organizations in your community. For example you may want
to call your local health department, hospital, public library or
community college.
Also, it is
possible for a location that receives the satellite downlink
to "share" the signal with other locations through
a videoconferencing network. If you normally participate
in such a network, this may be an option for you if you
do not have satellite downlink capability.
If
I register to watch the Webcast, how can I be sure it will work?
There are a
few major requirements you must have in order to watch the
Webcast. You need an Internet connection, speakers and RealPlayer.
If you do not have RealPlayer, you can download it at no
charge from the
RealPlayer
website (look
for the "Download Free RealOne Player" link).
To find out if this will work for you, please go to Archived
Programs,
choose an old broadcast and view the archived Webcast.
If you have technical problems with your computer, please
seek technical support from within your organization. If
there is none available, please call us and we will do
our best to help you.
What
if I miss the broadcast?
Don't worry.
You will be able to view the archived broadcast via the web within
two weeks of the broadcast. Videotapes and CD-ROMs will also be
available for purchase on-line. Please
allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.
Why
do I need a Participant ID?
In order to
receive continuing education credits, you must complete the on-line
evaluation. To gain access to the evaluation page, you must have
your Participant ID, which was assigned to you when you registered.
What
if I forgot my Participant ID?
Simply send
an email requesting
your ID and include your name, organization and state. We will respond
as soon as possible.
